As engaged citizens of the Commonwealth’s premier land-grant university, we serve our community and the profession by enhancing public understanding of law, engaging in law reform, delivering continuing legal education, and providing legal services to the indigent.

Preparing Students

Our rigorous legal skills program prepares each student to be well-rounded and adept at core competency skills crucial to attorneys regardless of the area of law. Students will conduct negotiations, depositions, arguments before a judge, and a trial. They will draft more than 15 different types of legal documents, ranging from legal memos, complaints, motions, summary judgments, sales contracts, statutes, articles of organizations, and operating agreements. Students are also afforded a variety of internships and externships to further ready them for the real practice of law.
