PREPARING REFLECTIVE EDUCATORS FOR DIVERSE LEARNERS

The vision of the School of Education at Green Hills University is to become an international leader for the professional preparation and continuing development of reflective educators and other stakeholders by creating a transcultural community of public and private partnerships that will facilitate enriched opportunities for student learning.

The Department of Education exists to promote teacher training and research in education. In teacher training it is strongly committed to the view that the training of teachers is best based in practical work in good schools, supplemented by relevant academic input into the philosophy and practice of education. In its research, and in its work more generally, those who work in the Department take seriously the thought that education is primarily about the transmission of the best that has been thought and known to those as yet ignorant of these things, as far as they are capable, and also that the best way of achieving this end is through a multiplicity of provision, rather through education being a monopoly of the state or its agencies. A further focus of work in the Department is that educational provision itself should be strongly diversified to cater for the different needs of different pupils. In the Department robust debate on these and other topics in education is strongly encouraged.
